Air on the G-String is one of the most recognised and popular pieces of classical music. Air on the G-String is a constant fixture at weddings and in films and adverts. Air on the G-String originates from J.S. Bach`s Aria from the “Suite for Orchestra in D-major” BWV 1068 for violin and piano. The German violinist August Wilhelmj (1845-1908) decided to adapted the solo part so it fits comfortably on the G-string of a violin, hence the title Air on the G-String. Below you can find:
