Chorus Of The Hebrew Slaves (Va, Pensiero) (From Nabucco) Sheet Music
also known as Va pensiero, Sklavenchor, Gefangenenchor (Nabucco) Sheet Music
"The Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves" is probably the best known number from Verdi´s opera Nabucco. "Va, pensiero, sull´ali dorate" - Fly, thought, on golden wings", a chorus that is often played as an encore. Nabucco is Verdi´s third opera (4 acts) which really started his career as a composer. The story is based on historical facts. It narrates the plight of the Jews as they are conquered and exiled from their homeland by the Babylonian King Nabucco (Nebuchadnezzar). It is in the third act at the banks of the river Euphrates, when the Jews long for their homeland and sing the famous chorus:"Fly, thought, on golden wings; Fly and settle on the slopes and hills".
