Johann Pachelbel was a German composer and organist of the
Baroque era who is most widely known for his composition Canon in D Major (1680). The Canon in D Major has often been referred to as the most popular "wedding tune". Strictly speaking the tune is not a cannon, but a passacaglia, as the cello part does not follow the pattern of a cannon (the three violin parts however, do follow the cannon form).
