often mis-spelt as Pom and Circumstance, Pom adn Sircumstance Sheet Music
Artist and Writer: Edward William Elgar (also known as Sir Edward)
Pomp And Circumstance March No. 1 by Edward Elgar is the first and most well-known in a series of five marches. It is one of the mainstays of the world famous Last Night of the Proms. The trio section of Pomp And Circumstance March No. 1 is better known as Land of Hope and Glory. Originally Pomp And Circumstance March No. 1 did not have any words, but A C Benson added words to the trio section, and it subsequently became known as Land of Hope and Glory. On the last night of the proms the whole March us played however, and the audience joins in for the trio section with the words of Land of Hope and Glory. If this appears confusing the march is know as The Graduation Song in the USA and Canada, as it is played at graduation ceremonies. This custom appears to have been borne out of the fact that Elgar was awarded an honorary doctorate at Yale University, and the orchestra performed Pomp And Circumstance March No. 1 for the ceremony. It appears that only the trio section is performed as The Graduation Song, and to add yet another line to the story, the trio section is also sometimes referred to simply as Pomp And Circumstance.

Level 1.5 is unusually difficult for this Level.
Level 2.5 does not have the reprise of the first section, or the reprise of the Trio section (main chorus) in D.
Level 3 is the same length as Level 3.5, but many of the octaves in difficult places have been removed and several chords have been simplified.
