Sting. He's big. He's massive. And a very interesting guy. He had a humble background - his Mother was a hairdresser and his Father was a milkman and an engineer. Sting himself helped out on the milk round and became a bus conductor, a labourer and a tax officer. He is most famous for being a school teacher - probably because of dis Don't Stand So Close To Me hit.

Sting learned to play the guitar when a friend of his Father's left it when he emigrated. He then performed jazz, fitting it in around his various jobs. It was at this time he earned his nickname which came from wearing a black and yellow hooped striped jumper thus looking like a bee.

As well as his music, Sting has many human rights interests. He has performed at many events in aid of good causes such as Amnesty International, sung with Band Aid and co-founded The Rainforest Foundation to help save rainforests and protect indigenous people.
