The Pirate Queen is a ship, and not a person, in this musical which takes place in Ireland in the 16th century. Warring families lived on land but some, like the O'Malley clan, spent most of their time on the water. A young girl is desperate to sail and, in disguise, gets aboard the ship. She then skillfully helps the ship avoid peril and then there is uproar when it is revealed that she is actually the Captain's daughter.
