This powerful film from Danny Boyle captivates from the start. Four Edinburgh junkies, who are loose friends, help each other out of, and back into, all sorts of trouble. It shows a gritty reality of hard drugs, the desperation and chaos it brings and the fake loyalty which is so easily forgotten when in need of a fix. It's classic 70s Britain - Britpop, electronica, and heroin.

Ewan Macgregor plays the main character who test drugs for his friends, sticks is head down a disgusting toilet bowl in search of two suppository drugs and is ultimately a good guy who can't just help himself. Released in 1996, it over 20 years before releasing a follow-up, T2 Trainspotting, which is equally mesmeric viewing.
